More than a dance class

What Child Development Through Dance Means

Dance is the vehicle, whereas your child’s growth is the point. So while little ones twirl, tap and pretend, they’re also building the skills they need for nursery, school and life.

In fact, parents sometimes ask whether we run separate confidence classes. We don’t, because confidence is built into every single session.

When children grow through dance:

  • They have a go at new things without worrying about getting it wrong
  • They listen, take turns and follow simple instructions
  • They share their own ideas through movement and play
  • They make friends and feel part of a group
  • They grow stronger, steadier and more coordinated

As a result, these skills show up at home, at nursery and later in the classroom.

Why the early years matter

Child Development Through Dance in the Early Years

The early years are when children build the foundations for everything that follows. That’s why every Magical Tots class weaves in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Even better, our teachers are qualified primary school teachers, so they know exactly how young children learn.

Our approach

The Three C’s of Child Development Through Dance

Every class we run follows the same simple framework. So whichever class your child joins, they grow in these three ways.

1

Confidence

Confidence isn’t something children are born with. Instead, it grows with encouragement, practice and a little bit of magic.

That’s why we help children have a go, perform in front of others and celebrate every small win.

What you’ll noticeYour child joins in sooner, speaks up more and tries new things.
2

Communication

Communication is much more than words. It also means listening, taking turns and sharing how you feel.

Through songs, rhymes and stories, children learn to follow instructions as well as express themselves.

What you’ll noticeYour child sings the class songs at home and chats happily about class.
3

Creativity

Creativity is how children make sense of their world. So every class is packed with magical props, themes and imaginative play.

As a result, every child brings their own ideas to life in their own way.

What you’ll noticeYour child invents their own dances, games and stories.

How Child Development Through Dance Works

Dance isn’t just physical. In fact, it’s one of the most joyful ways for young children to grow. Here’s why.

Confidence icon

Confidence Through Experience

Every term, children build towards showcases and performances. On top of that, Magical Tots children earn an end-of-term certificate, so every milestone feels special.

Social skills icon

Social Skills & Feelings

Group games and partner dances help children cooperate. Meanwhile, a calm, kind space helps them manage big feelings.

Resilience and growth icon

Resilience & Growth

Children don’t need to get every step right. Instead, they learn that having a go is what matters, which helps them bounce back when things feel tricky.

Structure and routine icon

Structure & Routine

Above all, a familiar class routine helps little ones feel safe. In turn, they learn to wait, listen and follow simple rules.

Child Development Through Dance, Stage by Stage
